About Gum Arabic

Acacia gum, also known as gum arabic, is derived from the trunk exudate of the acacia tree of the leguminous family and is therefore also known as acacia gum. The main components of gum arabic are high molecular polysaccharides and their calcium, magnesium and potassium salts. It mainly includes gum aldose, galactose, glucuronic acid and the like. Good quality gum arabic is amber in color and large and round in size, mainly produced in Africa. Application

1.food industry

-Gum Arabic used to be the most widely used and most used hydrosol in the food industry, and the current annual demand in the world remains at around 40,000-50,000 tons.

Gum arabic can also be widely used in beverage production, such as in the production of soft drink concentrates to stabilize flavor and essential oils. It is often used in candy manufacturing, like traditional hard (wine) gummy candy, soft candy, and also used in the manufacture of gum, with strong adhesion and soft elasticity, generally 20-25%. It can also be used as a foam stabilizer for marshmallows.

medicine

-In medicine, gum arabic has the function of lowering blood cholesterol.

Printing industry

-The printing layout is mainly rubbing gum arabic.

Gum arabic is a solid crystalline body that swells when it is soaked in water and eventually becomes a viscous colloidal solution. After the liquid colloid is rubbed on the printing plate to evaporate the water, the glue liquid is restored from the liquid state to the original solid state and adsorbed on the printing plate. The function is that after the glue is dried, the plate is covered with a hardened film to isolate the plate from the air, thereby preventing the oxidation from occurring.

Gum arabic contains arabic acid (X-COOH), which is a good cleansing agent for the greasy surface. The surface of the gum is more effective after drying.

After the gum is rubbed on the plate, the glue contacts the inorganic salt layer of the plate to form a better hydrophilic film, which improves the hydrophilicity of the plate.

2.1). Coke-type, carbonated beverages: essential oils and oil-soluble pigments in emulsified and stabilized formulas in soft drinks to improve carbon dioxide retention. Dosage: 0.1-0.5%

2). Emulsifying essence: essential oil in emulsified and stable formula. Usage: 12-15%

3). Microcapsules, powder flavors, powdered oils (essential oils): spray-drying to produce film-forming agents in microcapsules to prevent oxidation of products, prolong flavor shelf life; spray-drying production of film-forming agents in oil powders: oil content of 1 -2 times

4). Polishing agent / film forming agent (improves gloss, does not dissolve in hands, avoids oxidation of oil. Dosage: spray with 30% glue

5). Candy, toffee; gum candy, cough sugar Sugar-free candy: used as an anti-crystallization agent; prevents the precipitation of sucrose crystals, effectively emulsifies milk fat in milk sugar, and avoids milk fat spillage. Dosage: 30-50%

6). Baking products surface varnish: the essence carrier of baked products. Dosage: spray with 30% glue

7). Powdered juice, soluble meat powder: thickener dosage: 0.1-2%
