This is a screen for people who want to modify their brew kettle to avoid clogs when draining their chilled wort. The long screen gives plenty of surface area to allow liquid intake even after some hops stick to it (unlike a small screen over just the exit hole which will quickly clog from even a small amount of hops material).

The screen resists crushing from the output pressure, which would pinch the tube shut and render much of its length useless. In other words, when there is hops stuck to the screen near the exit point the tube will stay open and allow the screen to still draw in liquid from progressively further down the tube.
