Lithium chloride has a wide range of uses. Electrolytic production of metal lithium is the field with the largest consumption of lithium chloride. At present, the only industrial method for the production of metal lithium is the molten salt electrolysis method of lithium chloride proposed by Gonz in 1893. Metal lithium and its alloys and compounds are widely used in many fields, such as atomic energy industry, metallurgical industry, battery, glass, ceramics, chemical industry, aerospace industry and so on.
