.3.Characteristics and applications
PM-200 is a diisocyanato-diphenylmethane(MDI)-based composition containing some higher functionality isocyanates. The functionality is about 2.6-2.7. It is a dark brown liquid at ambient temperatures.
PM-200 can be widely used in the production of rigid PU foam heat-insulating materials; also used in isocyanurate foam, paint, adhesives, structural foam, cellular integral skin foam, automotive bumper and interior parts, high-resilience foam and synthetic wood, etc. Due to its unique composition structure, PM-200 can provide better flowability.
4.Storage / transportion .
Since PM-200 is a reactive chemical, reaction with atmospheric moisture happens easily and leads to the formation of insoluble ureas and carbon dioxide gas, which can result in pressure build-up in closed containers and viscosity increase of the product. Containers must therefore be absolutely dry and carefully sealed after congested with nitrogen.
Containers of PM-200 should be kept properly closed and stored indoors at ambient temperatures(20-25°C) in a well-ventilated area. Storage at low temperatures(below 5°C) may lead to some crystallization; this material must, therefore, be protected from frost. If crystallization does occur, the material should not be heated to exceed 70°C.to melt it out, and should then be thoroughly agitated before use. Note that the product will decompose and give off gas above 230°C.
5.Usage
MDI is widely used in the production of PU rigid insulation foams and polyiso cyanurate foams.Other uses include paints, adhesives, sealants, structural foa ms, microcellular integral skin foams, automotive bumper and interior parts, high-resilience foams and synthetic wood .
