   Vane type mist eliminators, also known as vane type separators, are used to separate liquid droplets or dust from gas or vapor steams. They can be used at high gas or vapor velocities and allow high separation efficiency at low pressure drops. Vane type mist eliminators can be installed inside columns, evaporators and other vessels, or in a separate casing inside piping. Gas flow directions can be either horizontal or vertical.

Working principles behind vane mist eliminator

   Vane type mist eliminator also known as chevron type mist eliminator, works on the principle of direct impact combined with centrifugal force. Liquid drops are collected in a series of troughs located in bundles of parallel curved blades.

   Vane mist eliminators are widely used to separate gas from entrained liquid droplets in diameter of 8 microns and larger. When gas passes through vane type mist eliminators and changes its flow directions, liquid droplets are unable to change directions as quickly as gas due to momentum. As a result, liquid droplets impact on blade plate shaped vanes and coalesce, and form larger droplets until drain away.
