3. RS-485 communication cable can use twisted-pair cable in general occasions, but it can use twisted-pair cable with shielding layer in high-demand environment. When using RS485 communication, the cable length between the host computer (call device) and 485 port of instrument is inversely proportional to the baud rate of data signal transmission for a specific transmission line; this length is mainly affected by signal distortion and noise. In theory, the transmission distance of RS485 can reach 1200 meters, but in practical application, the transmission distance should be less than 1200 meters, and the specific length is affected by the surrounding environment.
