4A Molecular Sieve
Molecular sieve 4A is a kind of alkali-metallic silicon-aluminum compounds, it is the sodium form of the type A crystal structure. Molecular sieve 4A has an effective pore opening of 4 angstroms (0.4nm). 4A molecular sieves can absorb the molecules which critical diameter is not more than 4 angstroms. 4A molecular sieve is used in the dryness of gases and liquid, and absorb H2O, NH3, H2S, SO2, CO2, C2H5OH, C2H6, C2H4, C3H6 and so on. 4A molecular sieve is also used for dryness of impurity gas in oil, oil & natural gas and dehydration of ethanol. If it lost effectiveness, 4A zeolite can be regenerated to reuse.
Regeneration
1. 4A molecular sieve can be regenerated by either heating in the case of thermal swing processes, or by lowering the pressure in the case of pressure swing processes.
2. To remove moisture from a 4A molecular sieve, a temperature of 250-280°C is required. A properly regenerate molecular sieve can give moisture dew points below -100°C.
3. The outlet concentrations on a pressure swing process will depend on the gas present, and on the conditions of the process.
Storage
The molecular sieve shall be stored at room temperature, in which the relative humidity is not exceed 90%, and be not exposed in air, and prevented against water, acids and alkalis.
