Company Profile
AZIENDA AGRICOLA VILLA MAGNA
For two generations our family dedicates to truffles, first as truffle hunters, then in a more organized and professional way, building a family-run agricultural enterprise which was created in 1999 by Milva and her husband Moreno who is one of the most expert and well-known truffle hunters of Tuscany.
Moreno fought a lot for the defense and the protection of truffle environments in Tuscany and he has been involved in many projects on truffle cultivation conducted by Italian universities and research centres.
Milva and Moreno have realized for the family farm about 30 hectares of truffle plantations certified organic, actually Villamagna is one of the few Italian companies to have the organic certification for all types of truffles collected and sold.
From 2000 to 2005 Milva and Moreno created an important commercial network with restaurateurs, traders and private customers of the region, supporting the short supply chain and embracing the philosophy of organic and high quality food.
In the years between 2005 and 2010 the consolidation of the farm in the italian market took place. At the same time, the family decided to start the export to the foregin markets by taking part to the most important international food events and fairs that have allowed Villamagna to know many restaurateurs and distributors.
In 2013 Villamagna opened its first shop outside the farm in the historical center of San Gimignano in which everyday fresh truffles and preserved products of the company line are sold (pure truffles, sauces, creams, oils). These products are obtained by an accurate selection of raw materials and other ingredients.
In addition, in 2013 the successful truffle hunting service for tourist sector was created and two years later the “Truffle House” for truffle tastings was built.
In 2015 the family opened a second truffle shop.
Nowadays, after many years of experience, Villamagna is able to guarantee the supply of fresh organic truffles and preserved products throughout the year.
The company is managed mainly by Milva and Moreno’s sons whose goal is to carry on the family tradition, by enriching it with innovative elements and looking at the needs of the market and at the trends of the future, ensuring the best quality and professionalism to every customer.
