Tenuta San Jacopo is a farm founded in 1737 in Cavriglia, between the Chianti Classico and the Valdarno Superiore in Tuscany. It extends for 140 hectares located at about 300 m.s.l. , of which 40 are vineyards, and then olive trees and woods, entirely converted to the Organic cultivation method since 2003. Here we produce red and white wines, a sparkling wine, grappa and olive oil, with particular attention to the enhancement of the territory such as main source of expressiveness of our wines. San Jacopo is not only an estate but a delicate ecosystem in which biodiversity and wine culture have lived in perfect balance for over two centuries. The yield per hectare does not exceed 60/75 quintals, the harvest is strictly manual and each variety is vinified separately respecting its organoleptic characteristics because we believe that the best wine comes first of all from quality grapes. Among the vines are grown Sangiovese, Trebbiano, Montepulciano, Merlot, Cabernet S. and Chardonnay. The production area is the Chianti DOCG hills of Arezzo and the Valdarno Superiore DOC. Organic Tuscan Olive Oil has been recognized as one of the best in the world in the delicate fruity category. Annual production is 90,000 bottles, half of which are sold in Italy and the rest in Europe, the United States and Asia. The company is headed by Costantino Cattaneo, a member of the second generation of the family, a Milanese manager now converted to rural life and to run the company. His vision is to carry on the production of historical wines of the territory but also to experiment with new methods of winemaking and enhance the ancient native vines.
