Summary of rotary drum dryer:
Rotary drum dryer (rotary dryer) is a drying machine used to dispose large amounts of materials. Due to its reliable working, flexible operation, good adaptation and large handling capacity, it is generally used in metallurgy, building materials, food, light industry, chemical engineering, coal industry and medicine. Rotary drum dryer usually adapts to granular materials, but it also adapts to some water blending materials, dry sticky and pasty materials or high-moisture materials.
Operating principle of rotary drum dryer:
In drying process, wet material is first sent to feed opening by a conveyor, then to the stock guide and passed by the chute inside the end socket, then to the cylinder. The cylinder is rotating drum tube, which is slightly inclined to the horizontal. The material enters from the higher end and gets out from the lower end. There is a shoveling plate installed on the inner wall of the cylinder, which scoops up the material and scatter them to make them form a curtain, thus the material can have a full contact with the heat air, in that case, the drying speed is improved and the material moving speed is accelerated. Wet materials get heat directly or indirectly from the heat carrying agent when they are lifted and moving forward, so the moisture is evaporated. The evaporated steam is discharged out by the induced draft fan. Thus, the materials get dried and the dehydration is realized. After the heat carrying agent and wet air going through the rotary drum dryer, cyclone dust collector is usually needed to collect the material carried by the air. If further reduction of dust contained by the off-gas is needed, bag filter and hydrofilter can be equiped at the end of drying process.

In this kind of dryer, the wet material goes in from the feed end, while the firebox is at the discharge end. The material moves in a negative direction against that of the drying medium (heat air), and the material is heated and gets dried during this process.

There are the following kinds of lifting boards:
- Elevated lifting board: it adapts to large materials and materials easy to bond to the cylinder wall.
- Four-grid lifting board: it adapts to materials which are dense, not brittle and hard to scatter. This kind of lifting board divides the cylinder into four grids, and forms fan-shaped workrooms that are not communicated with each other. The material can have more contact with the heat air than that of the elevated lifting board. Besides, the filling rate of material is increased, and the loss of dust is reduced due to the falling height is lower.
- Cross lifting board or frame lifting board: it adapts to materials that are brittle and easy to scatter. It can make the materials scatter across the whole section of the cylinder evenly.
- Sleeve lifting board: it is used for compound heat-transfer (or called half diameter heating) drum dryer.
- Grid (fan-shaped) lifting board: it adapts to materials that are very fine and easy to fly. When the materials enter, they pile up on the grid board. When the cylinder rotates, the materials are stirred and contact with the heat air constantly; and because the material falling height is lower, the dry materials are not so easy to be taken away by the air.
