- The model functions:
This product is a visual aids for college and university professors teaching of genetic material - DNA structure .
- Product performance and use:
This product is designed by reference to the Wetsen and Crter DNA right helix model .
The model consists of two parallel but opposite directions polynucleotide long chains, the two long chain composed of deoxyribose and phosphate molecules arranged on the outside of the DNA , forming the double helix ,a small groove and the major groove on the surface, and a rung between the two long chains , each rung consists of a pair of base , each corresponding base is connected with each other by hydrogen bonding , base pairing rule is : A-T, C-G or C-G, A-T composed of two hydrogen bonds between each other , while G-C composed of three hydrogen bonds . The interplanar spacing between Adjacent bases is 0.34A.. Two adjacent nucleotides rotated 36 °, the double helix has 10 pairs of nucleotides in each turn , each turn height 3.4mm, screw diameter is 2mm.
Note: In the model , the balls represents phosphate , the pentagonal pieces represent deoxyribose , A represents adenine , G represents guanine , T represents thymine , C represents cytosine .
