A bar screen is a mechanical filter used to remove large objects, such as rags and plastics, from wastewater. It is part of the primary filtration flow and typically is the first, or preliminary, level of filtration, being installed at the influent to a wastewater treatment plant.
* Coarse screens are typically used in wastewater treatment applications in order to remove large solids from the influent in order to remove rags, clothes, debris or any other large object that could clog, damage or alter the process pumps and piping downstream. Coarse bar screens are distinguished from fine screens by the space opening. Coarse screens usually have a spacing of 6 mm and larger.
