From La Colonial to Eureka.
1854
Jaime Méric founds La Colonial
After visiting the most important chocolate factories in Europe, he founded La Compañía Colonial, whose factory was located in El Tívoli (El Prado).
On December 6, 1855, the new premises on Calle de La Montera in Madrid were inaugurated.
1866
The factory moves to Pinto
The Pinto factory consisted of a large group of 50 buildings surrounded by lush gardens.
The staff that worked in the factory was 150 men, 80 women and 15 employees (workshop, warehouse and administration masters) that made a total of 245 workers.
1878
Gold medals for their chocolates
The facotry participated in all the Exhibitions that were held.
They received Medals in London, Paris, Vienna, Philadelphia, Dublin, Porto, Bordeaux, Barcelona, Rome.
1887
Edmundo Méric opens the company La Colonial store on Calle Mayor 18
1902
Large modernist building on Calle Mayor
A modernist building is built for the company on Calle Mayor 18 in Madrid.
The artist Daniel Zuloaga is in charge of painting the ceramic panels with tea, cocoa and coffee themes.
1906
Chocolates Eureka is founded in Cádiz
At the beginning of the 20th century, the bakery and chocolate factory "Eureka" was established in Cádiz, in Plaza de Jesús Nazareno, 27, founded by the industrialist Gómez Ojeda from Cádiz.
The products were very varied: Vienna bread, chocolates, sweets and cocoa.
1924
Leonetto Cappiello designs advertising for La Colonial
1940
Ernesto Méric sells the factory, which begins to operate under La Colonial S.A.
Buildings are rebuilt and machinery is repaired.
Manufacturing begins in the first months of 1941.
The works are prolonged due to the shortage and scarcity of construction materials.
Industrial and commercial activity is unstoppable in the 40s.
1965
Chocolates Eureka acquires the assets of La Colonial
On July 31, 1965, the López Moltó society bought a quarter of the La Colonial estate to allocate its factory in Cádiz there.
López Moltó marketed the Eureka, Caoflor, Three cups, Blanco y Negro, ABC, Atlantic and Doria brands.
1986
Caoflor is a leading brand in cocoa powder
Caoflor was manufactured on Águilas street.
Later, the Seville factory (Luis Montoto street) will close and the machinery is brought to Pinto to manufacture here.
Emilio Butragueño is the image of the Caoflor brand.

López Moltó sells the company to an investment group
The new management team, headed by Pablo Blesa, undergoes a profound transformation of both the Pinto factory and the personnel under its charge.
The commitment to quality and a growing R&D department, as well as to chocolate specialties, prepare the firm to start growing and gaining market share.
Since spring 2003, the name of the company has been changed to Chocolates Eureka, S.A.
2017
Inauguration of the factory-museum, new designs and merging with ChocoMuseo.
