SML SPT sampler/ASTM Standard SPT Split Spoon Sampler/Soil Sampling Tool is most widely used to check various parameters and properties of soil on the construction site. For any building foundation, design and construction soil testing are essential and one type of in-situ soil test. It is conducted to determine the geotechnical engineering properties of subsurface soils, especially for cohesionless soil. Split spoon sampler has an assembly of a steel tube, coupling, driving shoes, a check valve, and venting ports.

The SPT can be used for all types of soil, but in general, the SPT is most often
used for sand deposits.

*Sampler is driven by a metal drop hammer that has a weight of 140 lb. (63.5 kg) and a free-fall distance of 30 in. (0.76 m interval)

*Sampler is driven a total of 18 in. (45 cm), with the number of blows recorded for each 6 in. (15 cm interval)

*The screw connection on the top adaptor depends on the type of drill rods being used to drive the sampler.
