Rigid-Laminates Mica Sheet

Introduction         

Rigid mica sheet comes in the form of rigid laminated sheet after laminating, pressing and baking process, consists of quality muscovite, phlogopite or synthetic mica paper impregnated with high temperature resistant organic silicon resin as binding agent.

Fire resistance classification UL94 (94 V-0); BS479 (class 1); IEC 60371-3-3 conformity

It is available with Muscovite mica or in Phlogopite mica. Primary difference is Muscovite has a continuous operating temperature of 600°C / 1110F and Phlogopite 800°C / 1470 F.

Available in standard sheets of 1000mm x 1200mm (39.37" x 47. 24") sheets up to 1000mm x 2400mm (39.37" x 94.48") can be special ordered.

This material is excellent insulation for strip heaters, band heaters, and heating elements. Other uses are washers, terminal insulation and other applications that require high temperature insulation. Plate can be die punched, sheared or machined with CNC. This material also lends itself to laser and water jet cutting. Offered as sheets, strips or we can fabricate parts with customer supplied drawing. We can supply thicknesses up to 5" easily with thicker possible on demand.

Types:

By the mica paper, resin and properties, mica plates have following types:

Rigid Mica Plate:

Rigid laminated material, constructed of muscovite or phologpite mica paper with silicon resin.
They are known by its excellent thermal resistance, good flame resistance, high dielectric strength, excellent physical strength, and little smoke by heating.
The products have been widely used in the industries of household electric appliances (clothes irons, hair dryers, toasters, kettles, cooking appliances, microwave ovens, air heaters), metallurgy (frequency furnace, intermediate frequency furnace, arc furnace), medical appliances, etc.

 
Flexible Mica Plate:

Flexible Mica Plate  is a kind of flexible laminated material, it has excellent dielectric properties , excellent tensile strength and easy to form at room temperature. They are often used for hair dryers, curlers, electrical irons, motors and so on.

 
Glossy Mica Plate:

Glossy Mica Plate are made from muscovite (or phlogopite) mica paper and high temperature resistant silicon resin, compared with rigid mica plate, its surface are very smooth, but properties have no different.  Glossy Mica Plate series has two species: Glossy muscovite mica plate and Glossy Phologpite mica plate.

Rigid mica sheet are specially developed to providing outstanding thermal and electrical insulation for different heating elements. It has a wide range of following applications:

- To implement resistor support, especially for heating elements in toasters, hair dryers,iron,heating wire heater, electric heat comb.

- To manufacture closed heating elements such as heater bands, heating elements, clothes irons and presses, kettles, cooking appliances, heating elements for extrusion machines;

- To be used as thermal insulation material in circuit breakers such as divider between components affected by a high heat loads.
