The draft gear consists of dual central rotary coupler, side damper, type 13B cast coupler yoke, type MT-2 draft gear, screw coupling, etc.

The connection contour line of dual central rotary coupler is as same as that of AAR No.10A, which means that it can couple with those couplers with AAR No.10A contour line very well. This coupler is designed based on conventional central coupler, adding rotary pin on coupler body. One of the function of the rotary pin is that the coupler head can rotate about 80°, the other is to enable the coupler couple with screw coupling. When it couples with screw coupling, the screw coupling and side damper of the dual coupler work, while the rotary coupler doesn’t work under this situation. When it couples with automatic coupler, the rotary coupler works, while the rotary coupler doesn’t work under this situation.
