Tips
The weave of the tape depends on the thickness, with twill being the best weave . If a strand burns or breaks due to abrasion, the fabric will not come apart. In contrast, if one or two strands break in a cross-weave,the others will come apart as well. One should note that a twill weave is often not used in making 1/16-inch-thick material. It is better to use half as much 1/8-inch wicking, than twice as much of the 1/16-inch if it is made with a simple cross weave.
Aramid flat wick,1/16-inch-thick: a thin,flat wick best for small props that are not exposed to many drops,it is made with asimple cross weave.
Aramid flat wick,1/8-inch-thick: this is the standard thickness used for most props and is made with a herringbone weave,which is the most durable weave.

Our standard wick is made of a Aramid thread with a fiberglass strand at is core,which produces a softer absorbent wick.These wicks are designed to sustain a large enough flame to create a visual effect.
·100% Aramid
We also sell pure 100% Aramid flat wicks,which are much denser and more durable; they last long in certain applications but cost more.It is a good choice if you are making a prop that is subjected to many hard drops.
