SHIELDPAD has a scintillator developed by M1 International. A solid-state sensor is one of the major improvements that enables

its powerful properties.

- Solid plastic scintillator has higher density than gas-filled GM Tubes, therefore makes the dosimeter compact and lightweight.

- Plastic scintillators go through efficient manufacture process, making the sensors affordable.

- Thanks to its high density, scintillators have high reaction probability, resulting in fast measurement.

- M1 International’s self-developed scintillation sensor, SSM-P2, is capable of precise measurement. (Minimum measurable value:

0.09μSv/h. Value changes by 0.001μSv/h)

Products Description

1. SHIELDPAD is about half the size of a credit card and fits in one hand. (Width x height x thickness: 44.3 x 53.5 x 21.3

2. As SHIELDPAD is small and light(60g), it’s convenient to hold it in your hand or hang it on a bag.
3. You can quickly measure the surrounding radiation by displaying the measured radiation on the screen every second.
4. We have significantly lowered the cost and improved accessibility by producing the radiation detection sensor ourselves.
5. With our self-developed radiation detection sensor, we have achieved practicality and accuracy at once. (Completed verification through the Korean Accreditation Organization (KOLAS))
6. You can measure gamma rays and X-rays.

Instructions

- Open the groove on the bottom and remove the battery cover to replace batteries.

Power ON

Press the button for 3 seconds to turn on the power, and the Exposure dose screen appears.

Screen changes each time the button gets pushed. (Exposure dose screen – Accumulated dose screen – Date/Time screen)

Power OFF

Go back to Exposure dose screen and press and hold the button for 5 seconds.

In Sound Lv2, a 'tick' sound is made whenever the surrounding radiation reaches the sensor. You can get an accurate average value if 20 seconds have passed since turning SHIELDPAD on.

You can check the date and current time.

FAQ

Q. What value is considered “safe”?

A. Background radiation is radiation that is always present in the environment around us from outer space, minerals, etc.
The amount of background radiation differs from region to region, but world average is 2.4mSv/year.
Therefore, the average background radiaiton is 0.27µSv/h.
Exposure to radiation might not bring immediate harm, but years of accumulation can result in serious problems. It is strongly recommended to get out of environments that show extreme radioactivity.

Q. The value comes out way higher than expected. What's going on?

A. Exposure dose may come out higher than average if there is a radioactive matter nearby or if you are at a contaminated region.

Other reasons might be that you are traveling high altitude areas or flying in the sky. The atmosphere protects us from radiation from the sun and the outer space. As you go up, the atmosphere above becomes thinner, and less radiation can be screened.

Q. Can I measure radiaiton of foods and beverages with SHIELDPAD?

A. SHIELDPAD measures radiation straight from the air, but it cannot measure that of food and drinks.
It is only possible in a special occasion when the surface pollution is very high by using gamma-ray detection. Alpha-ray and beta-ray are not taken into account.

Q. Can I bring it on flights?

A. All three models are allowed to bring on flights. The lithium ion battery used in ShieldPAD is about 4wh, which is allowed in airlines.
