Is the 30 pin adapter compatible with the Hero 2?

ABSOLUTELY NOT. The 30 pin adapter will fit in the battery compartment of the Hero 2. However, the + and - terminals of the Hero 2 are reversed from the Hero 3. Using the 30 pin adapter with the Hero 2 will DESTROY THE CAMERA. Even before you turn the camera on.

Can I connect my camera to a computer using the USB port while the 30 pin adapter is connected?

The dummy battery operates on 5 -24volts , slightly more than a fully charged Lithium Ion battery. A voltage regulator is necessary to use other input voltages. We are developing a finished product which can be used for operation from other voltages.
