Bag Cartridge Filtration

These multi basket strainers and bag filters offer a wide range of flow capacities and contaminant-holding capabilities. They contain from 2 to 23 baskets.

To serve as a strainer, a unit is ordered with perforated stainless steel baskets (mesh-lined if desired). When ordered as a filter, it’s fitted with perforated stainless steel baskets designed to hold disposable or cleanable filter bags. Industry-standard size bags are used: the standard 30 inch baskets accept bag size 2, the optional 15 inch baskets take size 1.

The standard pressure rating for all models is 150 psi. All housings can be supplied with an ASME code stamp, if required.

CIP filters are typically most appropriate for applications where flow rate are high, filter media replacement costs are high, or exposure of the process liquid to workers or the environment is undesirable. They can be used to remove suspended solids of approximately one micron and larger for all types of liquid process streams. Bags and cartridge filters can both remove suspended solids for applications with lower flow rates, where exposure to the process liquid is not a problem, and where lower volumes of solids must be removed.

Bag filter

A Bag filter works by the principle of microfiltration. The liquid is purified in bags by passing small permeable pores. Bag filters can be used for large amounts of water.

The sizes of these pores are between the 1-200 micron

The capacity depends on the surface area from the bags. Bigger systems can clean up to more than 500 m³ /h (multi bag filters).There are special bags for various chemicals.

Engineering and structure

The liquid flows from the top of the filter house (manufactured in either stainless or epoxy coated carbon steel) and is distributed equally amongst the bags. The liquid comes out at the bottom leaving the dirt behind.

Since the bag is locked in at the top of the vessel all the dirt is trapped inside the bag. The filter vessel never requires cleaning after use.
