Question and Answer of Car Owner for BSD BSM Blind Zone Monitoring Changing Lanes Auxiliary System
1. Q: What is the use of the blind spot detection system?
A: Preventing vehicles from being rear-ended and side-collided by rear-ended vehicles, especially when changing lanes at medium and high speed, solve the problem of medium and high speed collision between vehicles, which is the main culprit of major traffic accidents. Data prove that more than 70% of major traffic accidents are caused by blind lane changes at medium and high speed. Therefore, this auxiliary system is of great significance to driving safety.
2. Q: Does the blind spot monitoring system have other functions besides preventing lane change accidents?
A: Yes. There is also a reversing crossing warning function and a door opening warning function, which can greatly reduce the impact accidents of reversing and opening the door.
3. Q: All vehicles have rearview mirrors. Why do we need to install blind zone monitoring and changing lane auxiliary systems to prevent lane change accidents?
A: There are still various risks in lane change due to blind zones in the rearview mirror and other subjective and objective reasons. These reasons are as follows:
(1) Blind zone of exterior rearview mirror. When the car in the next lane is located at the rear of my car to the B-pillar of my car, we cannot see it from the outside rearview mirror.
(2) Bad weather. When rain, fog, snow and smog occur, visibility is low and we cannot see clearly the cars coming from behind through the rearview mirror.
(3) Low visibility at night. When driving at night, visibility is low when encountering roads without street lamps.(4) Direct high beam. At night, when the rear high beam is directly illuminated, the rearview mirror is dizzy.
(5) Lack of driving experience. Inexperienced drivers often misjudge the distance and speed of the cars coming from the rear even if they see the cars coming from the rearview mirror, but due to lack of experience, they often misjudge the timing of lane change.
(6) Fatigue driving. Fatigue driving, lower judgment level, wrong judgment of the distance and speed of the car coming from rear, resulting in misjudgment of lane change timing.
(7) Distracted driving. When distracted driving, the car coming from rear is not observed in time. Therefore, although the vehicle has inside and outside rearview mirrors, the risk of lane change exists all the time. Therefore, blind zone monitoring changing lane auxiliary system is needed to prevent it.
