Arabic bread, also known as Lebanese bread or pita. it's a round, soft and slightly leavened flatbread made with a thin piece of wheat flour dough. It originated in the Near East as early as 2,500BC, and now it's widely used in the Middle Eastern, Balkan and Mediterranean cuisines, consumed with dips, spreads and fillings.
Arabic breads are mostly cooked in ovens at high temperatures over 230 °C or 450 °F, the instant steam within the dough while cooking, will cause it to puff up dramatically like a bubble. After the bread is removed from the oven to cool, the bubble deflates and often separates the dough into two layers, making Arabic breads ideal for stuffing or wrapping meats, vegetables and condiments into pocket sandwiches. Or it could be simply served with Middle Eastern dips such as hummus, baba ganoush, mezes (appetizers) and fresh herbs.
