Methyl salicylate is also known as methyl hydroxybenzoate, Holly oil, birch oil, sweet birch oil, methyl salicylate, tea seed oil. Natural products are found in wintergreen oil, Holly oil, birch oil, green tea seed oil, clove oil, mistletree oil, tuberose oil,
cordonia herb oil, tea oil, ylang-ylang ylang-ylang oil and in cherry, apple and strawberry juice. Colorless or light yellow, or
light yellow red transparent oily liquid. Strong smell of Holly oil.

Methyl salicylate ointment is a common dermatological drug with analgesic, anti-inflammatory and bactericidal effects. It can cause local irritation and is rarely taken internally.
