Leading Wholesaler of Good Quality Rose di Montemaggio Italian Organic Fine Dry Red Wine 0.75L Bottle Packaging
Rosé di Montemaggio IGT is an organic Tuscan wine with a vivid rose color, and a fruity bouquet. It is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes and it has a full and refreshing taste. It is the result of the transient encounter with the must of the Sangiovese grapes’ skin. The short hours spent together give to this wine its vivid rose color and a morbid character with a bit of acidity, freshness and lightness.
Rosé di Montemaggio is mainly produced with grapes picked from an early harvest from the cooler areas of the Sangiovese vineyards, for the purpose of obtaining good acidity, a lower alcoholic gradation and therefore obtaining freshness and lightness in the wine. The skins are left in contact with the liquid for only one night until achieving the desired coloration and the necessary complexity.
Subsequently, the skins are separated and the fermentation takes place at low temperatures in stainless steel vats for few days. The wine is bottled following about few months of refinement and released into the market when we think that is finally ready. The bottle of this rose wine has a glass pink cork to preserve the quality and the authentic taste of this wine.
During the last few years Rose wine finally gained the attention it long deserved and the consumption of it started to rise. However just few years back for some reason the general public believed that Rose was done purely from the second-hand grapes that somehow were not good enough for the production of the red wines. This misconception is not applicable to Rose di Montemaggio, which is done from 100% Sangiovese ( same as Classico, Riserva and Gran Selezione) but taken from a different part of the vine lines and different parts of the estate.
We try to pick earlier then the full maturation in order to increase the acidity, and hence decrease the alcohol. As a result we have a very fresh wine, with a lot of vivid colour – an ideal summer (or not only…..) companion. Make sure to notice the glass cork too – which saves a lot of wine from the defects of the cork, but still remains sophisticated and classy method of bottle closure. You can then recycle it as a jar for the water or olive oil.
The current vintage is 2019.
Montemaggio also is featured on a map, dating back to 1560, of the “Captains of the Guelph Party” that is housed in the Podesteria di Radda (City Hall). The name Montemaggio derives from “Monte Maggiore” (Big Mountain), which indicates its elevated position.
The estate, which is a member of the Consortium of Chianti Classico, extends over an area of 70 hectares (about 190 acres) of vineyards, olive groves and woods; it is situated at a high altitude of 450 to 600 meters above the sea level.
The vineyards, which is comprised of 8 hectares (20 acres) have a central position in the estate with an exposure to the southwest of remarkable importance. The soil is rich in galestro, sandstone, and alberese. The main grape varieties in our vineyards are Sangiovese, with small additions of Merlot, Pugnitello, Chardonnay, Malvasia Nera, and Ciliegiolo.
The particular position of the estate combined with the micro-climate, makes it possible for Montemaggio to offer a wide variety of products. These products are the following: Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Riserva, Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, Torre di Montemaggio IGT, Quinta Essentia di Montemaggio IGT, Ilaia di Montemaggio IGT, Rosé di Montemaggio IGT, Chardonnay di Montemaggio IGT, la Grappa e l’ Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Montemaggio follows the concept of a very high quality “Terroir” wine. We have a chance to look at the quality of wine in every bottle and make sure that customer gets a very special product. The wines have been planted with a very high density per hectare (6250 plants/hectare in some vineyards). We then produce a lower quantity of grapes per hectare (35-60 Ql/hectare, depending on the vintage), by regulating it through pruning and selection techniques.
These characteristics, in addition to the exposure (south – south west), the slopes, the micro-climate, the soil and the hard and accurate work done, guarantee the production of excellent and authentic Tuscan wines. During the harvest, every bunch undergoes considerable selection in the vineyard and later again in the vinery. Harvest is carried out manually, and only when the grapes are perfectly ripe. Therefore, it could be said that Fattoria di Montemaggio’s wines are 100% hand-made, and they preserve all the quality of the elements that are a part of the land where they have been cultivated.
Furthermore, Montemaggio is a certified organic estate since 2009, which means we produce pure organic wine. We practice organic agriculture and thus cultivation is carried out with the maximum respect for nature, without introducing any foreign or chemical element that can damage the environment.
