How to use the SPA ? 

Hot Tub Positioning:

Position your Hot Tub in an area that is very well supported and solid enough to take the weight of the tub including the water and the people enjoying the product, you could take advice from a structural engineer or your builder if in any doubt.

A concrete base should be at least 4" thick and it not advisable to put your Hot tub on an elevated wooden platform without sound advice, again due to weight issue, the general message is “these things are heavy”.

Electrical Supply :

You should leave the installation of the power supply to a professional. As a reference the power supply should be in the range of 13-30 amps and the power source itself must be wired through a RCD device (Residual Current Device) or if that is not possible through a circuit breaker. For security purposes the power source itself must be located at least 2 meters away from the hot tub. Safety Considerations

Electricity and water represent a big hazard, this is why on an area of 3 meters around the hot tub there shouldn’t be any overhead power lines. The access to the control panel and the equipment itself should also be easy in case of an emergency.

Water Supply:

Obviously you must have access to a water supply for filling the hot tub, accessible with a hosepipe. Also it is equally important that you are able to empty the hot tub through the drain with the same method, an accessible drain is very useful for this purpose. Non softened water is recommended for use in hot tubs

How much does the running of the hot tub cost?

Good question. The answer relies on several factors: insulation (to keep power consumption low), ozone filtering system (that keeps the usage of chemical cleaners at a low level and so on). Think of these additional investments as a way to cut costs. To give you a monthly figure you can expect anywhere from 15 pounds to 30 pounds a month.

How often should a hot tub be cleaned?

Cleaning the hot tub and of course draining should be done about 4 times a year, but it all depends on how well the hot tub is performing. For these rare occasions you will be very grateful for having a bottom drain, if there is one of course. A hose pipe will do the trick.

Must the hot tub be installed outside only?

Although most of the hot tubs are installed outside, you can install them just as easy inside. Keep in mind though that the surface must be strong enough, that you must have a way to drain the hot tub and also that in the long run you will probably need a dehumidifier.

Are those chemicals really necessary?

Yes. Ozone cleaners might reduce the need for them, but they must still be used. A warm, liquid environment attracts bacteria, algae and viruses. Also the equipment itself will suffer corrosion on the long run. There are many specialized products out there and almost all of them will do the trick.

Can I use the hot tub during the cold season?

Absolutely yes. As a matter of fact in countries with a long tradition in using hot tubs like Canada or Sweden people prefer using them in the cold season. It has also been discovered that using warm water in a cold environment will increase drastically the beneficial health effects. So if it’s cold outside it is warm and nice in the hot tub and you will definitely enjoy the experience.
