Lapsang Souchong Black Tea - Jin Jun Mei
Lapsang, a dialect from ‘Lexun’, means Pin-smoky, and now refers to a district in Wuyishan, Fujian Province, China. Souchong means “sub-variety”. Lapsang Souchong is a black tea from the Fujian province of China, famous for its smoky aroma and flavor. To create this, the finished tea is given some extra drying over smoking pine fire, imparting a sweet, clean smoky flavor to the tea.
It is made from two small shoots plucked in early spring from the plant's stem which are subsequently fully oxidized and then smoked to giving a tea that has a sweet, fruity and flowery flavour with a long lasting sweet after-taste. The brew is bright reddish in colour.
