1.0 Process introduction
This plant uses single column waste gas expansion process to produce partial liquid nitrogen together with nitrogen of 0.6MPa.
Feed air is compressed to 0.7 MPa(g) by air compressor. Then it enters pre-cooling unit and water separator to decrease dew point to about 10℃ and remove moisture.
Process air with 10℃ dew point enters purifier to remove residual moisture and CO2. Moisture and CO2 content out of purifier are both less than 1PPm.
After purification, the process air enters cold box and is cooled down to dew point temperature in the main heat exchanger. Then it enters the bottom of rectification column. One part of high purity nitrogen from top of rectification column enters main heat exchanger, and it is reheated as product nitrogen out of cold box when cooling feed air. The other part is divided into two streams after liquefied into liquid nitrogen in the condensing-evaporator. One stream works as reflux sent back to top of rectification column, and the other stream works as product liquid nitrogen out of cold box.
Oxygen enrichment liquid air made from bottom of rectification column is sent to evaporation passage of condensing-evaporator after throttling. It is evaporated automatically when condensing nitrogen in the condensing-evaporator and then enters to main heat exchanger. Oxygen-enriched air enters expander after reheating in the lower heat exchanger. Then cryogenic expansion oxygen-enriched air enters main heat exchanger to cool down feed air and be reheated to ambient temperature out of cold box. This waste gas after expansion and reheating works as regeneration gas of purifier.
Expander basically provides cooling energy for air separation and liquefaction.
