Two ways for the human ear to hear sound:
(1) Air conduction: the sound wave is transmitted to the auricle through the air and through the external auditory canal, causing tympanic membrane vibration
(2) Bone conduction: in addition to air conduction, bone can also transmit sound. The skull vibrates, sending the sound to the inner ear, which can also be heard.
