Magnetostrictive linear-position(liquid level) sensor is a high-precision, large-range absolute position sensor developed by magnetostrictive effect. It has non-contact measurement, high reliability and long service life feature. And can withstand the harsh industrial environment such as oil stains, solutions, dust, high pressure, so it has been widely used in petrochemical, machinery, water, electricity, metallurgy, steel and other industries.
The sensor generates a pulsed magnetic field by a pulse current emitted along a waveguide, and when the magnetic field intersects with a magnetic field generated by a moving magnet near the waveguide wire, a strain pulse is generated due to the magnetostrictive effect, or the waveguide is twisted. The strain pulse is returned along the waveguide wire and received by the circuit. The time difference between the transmitted pulse and the echo signal is calculated by the circuit to accurately feedback the position of the movable magnet. This process is continuous, so every time the moving magnet is moved, the new position is quickly sensed.
