High-capacity 10 Gbit/s Passive Optical Network (PON) Optical Networking Units (ONUs) for resilient, high-density Fiber-To-The-Curb (FTTC) and Fiber-To-The-Building (FTTB) services. SmartAX MA58xx Series ONUs support 10 Gbit/s upstream bandwidth, and are fully compatible with GPON networks.
Enable a smooth transition from GPON to 10 Gbit/s PON communications and expand capacity to meet bandwidth requirements with Huawei’s flexible SmartAX MA58xx Series ONUs.
- 10 Gbit/s PON ports for upstream transmissions enable higher access bandwidth and service requirements. 10 Gbit/s PON networks coexist with PON networks and are compatible with existing Optical Distribution Networks (ODNs)

- Multiple types of service boards can be installed in the same subrack to provide flexible GE, POTS, E1, and FE downstream ports
- G.fast is a new high-bandwidth access technology that applies to copper lines. The MA5818 provides rates of up to 1 Gbit/s over existing twisted pairs. G.fast is applicable to FTTB and FTTD networks
