Brief introduction
Ceramic bearings have excellence performance by virtue of the electricity and magnetism resistance, anti-corrosion, self-lubrication and maintenance, low noise, higher load capacity, high/low temperature resistance, etc. They are not stronger than steel but lighter. The lower friction than steel allows them to go faster with lower heat generated during the rotation.
The plastic bearings commonly used now are generally divided into plastic rolling bearings and plastic sliding bearings. The friction belongs to rolling friction whose degree is contingent on the precision when the former works while the latter being sliding friction, the degree of which is dependent on the material of the bearing's plane of sliding.

5. What is the difference between using a shield or a seal as a ball bearing closure?
Shields or seals are often installed to retain lubricant and to prevent contamination from entering the bearing. While a shield contacts the outer ring and does not come in contact with the inner ring, the seal generally comes in contact with both the inner and outer rings. Torque or drag is lower with a shield than with a seal. Alternately, the seal provides a higher degree of protection from contamination. Shields and seals are available in a variety of materials and configurations.
