Scopone is a small winery in the middle of the Tuscan hills, not far from the town of Montalcino. The Genazzani’s family
rearranged the old vineyard and in 1997 the first vintage took place : a great success! In the following years new vineyards and a winery were built in order to follow the whole process of winemaking and aging closely. Today, still, the winery is run with passion and love by the family, first and foremost by Theresia, assisted by her husband Andrea and their children Vanni, David, Nurit and Sarah.
Both vineyards and wines are taken care of with major attention to the environment : sustainability is the password for the whole process from the grape until the bottle.
The result is in the bottles that Scopone has the pleasure to present. The Scopone’s vineyards (12 hectares) are characterized by Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello grapes) besides some Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Its wines, small production, high quality, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Rosso di Montalcino DOC, IGT Toscana Il Bagatto, Il
Gregoriano Sant’Antimo DOC and Il Thessìo DOC are characterized by rich colours, perfumes and taste perfectly balanced since the winery combines the avant-garde technologies for vinification with the ages-old Tuscan wisdome and wine-making experience, using also barriques and casks.
Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino are done in “purezza”: 100% Sangiovese Grosso both aged in French Oak barriques (225 L) and in casks of Slavonian wood (60 Hl).
The Rosso 6 months the Brunello 2 – years.
Il Bagatto, in the category of Supertuscans, is a blended wine, done with Cabernet Sauvignon 40%, Merlot 40%, Sangiovese 10%, Petit Verdot 10% and aged for 18 months in French Barriques.
Il Thessìo, the new-born in Scopone winery, is blended with 80% Syrah and 20% Sangiovese Grosso.
The extreme attention for the health and the quality of grapes per wine-stock, a very restricted yield pro hectare, an accurate choice of grapes during the vintage, make a very high standard wine production, refined by the passage in the best quality French oak barriques, besides Slovenia “Botti”.
Opening the bottles some hours before serving will allow the wine to open up and so transmit to your taste all the wonderful sensations, testimony of the work and passion of Scopone in taking care of these great grapes of the Montalcino hills.
