Wireline triple tube core barrels are generally required in broken, fractured formations. They incorporate a third, split inner tube on base of wireline double tube core barrel. This can be pumped out of the inner tube after retrieval, allowing the core to be examined in its in-situ state.
Wireline core barrels eliminate the major time consuming operation of using standard double tube core barrels – pulling, stacking and lowering drill rods each time the core barrel is full.
Using a wireline system, core is recovered quickly by retrieving the core-laden inner tube directly through the drill string. The rods remain in the hole until the bit needs to be replaced. This has major cost advantages when drilling deep holes for mineral exploration.
These core barrels are available in industry standard hole sizes A, B, N, H and P. All parts are fully interchangeable with most other manufacturers’ wireline core barrels. Special requirements can also be met on request.
The locking coupling is with carbide inserted, and locking coupling & adaptor coupling are with chrome plated, which will improve the longer working life of the core barrels.
