   The Air Brake Compressorair brake compressor repair kit is a part of the air-brake systems, that are primarily used in buses and trucks. The main function of the compressor is to pump compressed air into the air reservoirs before it is used by the air-brake system. The air brake system uses compressed air to generate the pressure needed to push on the brake pad. The compressor draws the air from the atmosphere and pushes it into the air reservoirs at a high pressure of about 120 psi. It is either driven by the engine through the crankshaft via a pulley-belt system or directly by the timing gears. The compressor is cooled by the engine's cooling mechanism or is air-cooled.
