Air Core Solenoid provides a useful magnetic field for many experiments in magnetism and electricity. It is often used in PSSC Physics for investigations using the Mass of Electron Apparatus and experiments using the Current Balance. Our Air Core Solenoid is constructed using 4 layers, approximately 710 turns, of #23 gauge (0.67 mm) polyurethane enameled copper wire. This coil is designed to carry 7-10 amperes intermittently and will sustain a current of 5 amps. To use: connect a power supply that does not put out more than 5 amps to the solenoid.
