What are SIPS?
Structural Insulated Panels – SIPS - are an advanced method of construction, offering superior insulation, structural strength and air-tightness over traditional construction methods or systems. SIP panels are used in floors, walls and roofs for residential, industrial, educational and commercial applications, providing ecologically friendly and energy efficient buildings.
SIP technology has been developed around composite (or sandwich) panel techniques, creating a product with excellent structural and thermal characteristics.
SIPS consist of two parallel faces - usually Oriented Strand Board, sandwiching a rigid core of Polyurethane (PU) foam or Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), making them lightweight, quick to erect and free from problems of compression shrinkage and cold bridging associated with other forms of construction.
Facings materials vary with the advanced techniques, MgO board, fiber cement board, wood bonded cement board, etc. These boards currently have replaced traditional facing, OSB. Our TSM/TCB board is also a perfect choice used as facing boards.

QUALITY & DURABILITY
Terasun SIPS Insulated Panels are manufactured from the highest quality materials, using state of the art production equipment to rigorous quality control standards, complying with ISO9001 standard, ensuring long-term reliability and service life.
PACKING
Terasun SIPS panels are stacked horizontally and the pack is wrapped in polythene.
The number of panels in each container depends on panel length and weight.

Accessories
Fasteners
To be corrosion resistant screws for joining of panels and attachment of panel to frames, roof and
corners. In addition, Zinc galvanised screws, nails or staples should be used for spline and plate
attachments.
Construction Adhesive
Adhesive for installing accessories and dimensional timber.
Caulk
Compatible with all components of the panel and adjacent materials.
SIPs are manufactured under closely controlled factory conditions and can be custom designed for each application. The result is a building system that is extremely strong, energy efficient and cost effective. Strict quality control procedures are implemented by Terasun Co. in the manufacture of SIPs to ensure quality and consistency of panels.
With all SIPS it is the insulation core that provides excellent thermal properties due to the limited amount of timber studs required. Equally air permeability due to the large format nature of the supplied panels is much lower than traditional construction due to the small number of joints in the structure.
There are two fundamental applications for SIPs; full structural and infill for a concrete, steel or engineered timber frame. In all cases the product will be engineered for load bearing capability, racking resistance and wind loading .
