1. Overview of Bridge Expansion Joint

Bridge expansion joint is an expansion installation set between two beam ends, the beam end and abutment, or on the joint position of bridge to meet the requirements of bridge deformation. Seamless bridge expansion joint is a kind of bitumen-filled joints originated in UK in the 1970s. The technology is to replace expansion installation by paving layer of high elastic asphalt mixture. This layer can absorb bridge deck displacement caused by temperature and traffic load, and meet expansion and contraction at seasons, ensuring the surface will not crack.

2. Bridge Expansion Joint Binder

A. Binder Introduction

ENUO self-developed EBJ-200 bridge expansion joint binders are to add special additives in the original TST bridge expansion joint binder, with performance greatly improved, such as high temperature rutting resistance, low temperature crack resistance, interfacial adhesion and low temperature stress relaxation.

B. Application

EBJ-200 bridge expansion joint binders are suitable for small and medium-sized bridges with less than 50mm expansion.

Horizontal expansion: ±25MM

Vertical expansion: ±3MM

1.High softening point, low flow value; no flow at 60 ℃, with strong rutting resistance at high temperatures.
2.Good ductility at high temperature is better for resisting the widening of bridge joints caused by low temperature contraction.
3.Good low temperature interfacial adhesion. Due to special additives, EBJ-200 binders offer better adhesion because of the physical riveting and chemical cross linking with bridge interfaces.
4.High elastic recovery can better meet the bridge expansion and contraction.
