Product description
Maydos Ms clear coat is a 2K medium solid clear coat especially formulated for applying over Maydos base coats. It is easy to apply, gives high gloss and high durability. When used in conjunction with Maydos MS hardeners Normal, Fast, Extra Fast or Slow, it delivers high gloss and excellent final finish.
Substrate
Maydos MS clear coat should be applied over:
1.Maydosbase solvent-based base coat; |
2.Properly prepared paint work in good conditions; |
Existing job should be properly sanded and degreased. For cleaning and degreasing the surface prior to applying the base coat.

Choice of hardener
Maydos offers a range of hardeners to meet every type and size of car refinish under all conditions.
The recommendations below are for guidance only:
Maydos Extra Fast hardener is recommended for temperatures below 20°C and for small size of repair. |
Maydos Fast hardener is used for medium sized repair and for temperatures up to 25°C. |
Maydos Normal hardener is suitable for large areas, i.e. for all repairs at temperatures up to 30°C. |
Maydos Slow hardener should be used when the temperature exceeds 30°C. |
Use of accelerator
Maydos A160 is an additive for acceleration of drying time and may be added in the mixture of the clear coat and hardener at a level of 4-9 mass % prior to the addition of the thinner.
NOTE: The addition of Maydos A160 will reduce pot life to 2-3 hours.
Rectification and polishing
Maydos MS clear coat does not require polishing as it offers excellent gloss. In a case that some dirt has occurred, sanding with P1500 or finer and polish by machine using a high quality polish. Polishing is easiest up to 24 h after the drying time.
Drying times
Drying times are generally related to air circulation, temperature, film thickness and number of coats, and will be affected correspondingly.

Directions for use
Surface preparation
The substrate must be sound, clean, dry and free from dust, oil, grease,laitance etc. All traces of form release agents/curing agents must be removed. A light sanding with suitable abrasive material is recommended before application. Any resulting dust/loose particles must be removed.
Recommended paint system
Primer
2K Epoxy primer : 1-2 coats
Base coat
2K or 1K Maydos base coat paint : 1-2 coats
Top coat
2K HS or MS clear coat : 1-2 coats
Remarks
Make sure all surfaces must be clean, dry and free from wax, grease, oil etc. |
Stir well before use. |
If the paint is used on metal surface, primer is recommended. |
For optimum application, ensure that both spray booth temperature and paint temperature are between 20°C and 25°C. |
Clean the spray gun thoroughly immediately after use of 2K products. |
This product is highly flammable liquid. May cause sensitization by inhalation and skin contact. |
Wear eye protection and rubber gloves to prevent exposure to paints. |
