True north adjustment requires an angle adjustment called magnetic delclination, it varies over time and position on earth. Best to remember the declination for your area of operations. When sailing and charting you have a true north compass star which helps for orientation. On military maps and USGS maps they typically have arrows that indicate true north, grid north (can't draw hemispheric curved lines on flat paper) and magnetic north. Most good maps are orientated true north up. Always check on that.
