What are Asphalt Roof Shingles?

Asphalt roof shingles remain the most commonly installed type of roofing material in use today.

Asphalt shingles begin with a continuous fiberglass “mat” that forms tensile and tear strength to the shingle. Specially formulated hot asphalt is bonded to the top and bottom of the mat layer to form a waterproof barrier.

Finally, stone granules are embedded into the top layer of asphalt protecting the shingle from degradation, while adding the shingle color & shading that you see.

Laminated Roof Shingles

Laminated roof shingles (also known as dimensional or architectural shingles) are manufactured in an array of style and color combinations. Stronger and more durable than 3-tab shingles when it comes to wind resistance, and many offer longer warranties (Up to 30 years).

Property owners choose architectural shingles because they look great and can mimic several different styles of roof coverings (like wood shake, tile or slate), while saving cost for materials and installation labor.

A: In the absence of catastrophic hail or wind damage, newer premium asphalt shingle roofs can last up to 30+ years. Architectural shingle roofs generally last 15-30 years. 3-Tab shingles may only last 10-20 years depending on the quality of manufacture. Roof life can be significantly affected by climate, attic ventilation, insulation, and quality of installation.

Q: How do you match roof shingles to building color?

A: Some shingle manufacturers have “roof visualizers” that let you see shingle color options combined with house colors. While many of these are designed for residential homes, you can also upload an image of your building to see what various shingles might look like on your building.

Q: Can you use asphalt shingles on a flat roof?

A: Asphalt shingles are designed to be used on pitched roofs. However, there are various types of asphalt roll roofing that can be installed on flat roofs.

Sangobuild asphalt shingles are covered with CARLAC(CL) natural stone chips which be taken from quarries in French. CL granula have excellent performance for UV resistance and anti-aging, fire resistance and break heat conduction. It could guarantee 100% fadeless.

2) Weathering-Grade Modified Asphalt Coating Sangobuild Asphalt Shingle use of modified asphalt, large extension and strong bonding, higher intake for filler, will bond all the materials together. Which makes asphalt shingle resist wind and rain erosion for long time and keep product performance in cold and hot weather, and play a role in moisture resistance oxidation.

3) Fiberglass Mat

Glass fiber reinforcement: Strengthen of the carrier to a more solid quality, and strengthen the capacity of anti-aging. Sangobuild have two quality of fiberglass mat could be chose: 95g/sqm or 110g/sqm.
