Cement Movement Joint for Floors
The movement joints, expansion joints and control joint profiles of a series offer maintenance free and functional solutions for all relevant movement joints in tile coverings. The range includes profile types for movement joints, expansion joints and control joints, as well as edge and transition movement and expansion joints.
Meishuo control joint profile has been designed specifically for avoiding compressive strain inside tiled floors. These profiles are used for separating stoneware tiling (clinker slabs, ceramic tiles, natural stone slabs). The expansion joint profiles are ideal for absorbing and cushioning compressive strains because of the soft core. This purposefully avoids cracks in the stoneware tiling.
It consists of metal plate and rubber insert.
1. Aluminum
2. Stainless Steel of 304 or 316 Grade
3. Brass
1. Neoprene: Neoprene has good physical and mechanical properties, oil resistance, alkali corrosion, heat resistance, flame resistance, heat resistance, ozone, acid and alkali resistance, chemical reagent. While its weathering resistance and ozone aging is only be less than ethylene propylene rubber and butyl rubber; heat resistance is almost the same with nitrile rubber. And its decomposition temperature can reach 230 to 260 °C, it can withstand 120 to 150 °C in short terms, can be used for a long time under 80~100℃, thus it is flame retardant to some extent. The oil resistance of nitrile rubber is only less than nitrile rubber. Good resistance to inorganic acid, alkali corrosion. Poor cold resistance, electrical insulation is not good.
2. PVC: PVC(Poly Vinyl Chloride), vinyl monomer (VCM) is a kind of polymer under polymerization reaction of peroxide, azo-compounds and other initiator, or free radical polymerization by light, heat effect. The material is a kind of non crystalline material, when it is in practical use, it is often added stabilizer, lubricant, auxiliary processing agent, pigment, anti-impact modifier and other additives. It is with low flammability, high strength, excellent resistance, weather resistance, and geometric stability. PVC has strong resistance to oxidant, reductant and acid. However, it can be oxidized by concentrated sulfuric acid, such as concentrated sulfuric acid, concentrated nitric acid and is not suitable for the areas with aromatic hydrocarbons and chlorinated hydrocarbons.
3. TPE or VAMAC:
-Excellent anti-aging performance and superior weather resistance, heat resistance;
-Excellent anti permanent deformation performance;
-Excellent tensile strength, high toughness and high resilience;
-Excellent environmental protection performance and can be reused;Packing Details : Standard Export Plywood (No Need to Fumigate)
Delivery: about 15 days if materials are kept in stock; about 25 days if materials are not kept in stock.
1. EPE Foam or Bubble Film
2. Stick Marks
3. Fasten with Belt
Recognizing that tile is a facade, movement joints are needed to eliminate stresses that can occur between the substrate and the tile due to differing amounts of expansion and contraction
Meishuo recommends allowing for expansion and contraction in every tile installation. In small rooms, a gap at the perimeter of the room (often hidden by baseboard or shoe molding) is sufficient. For larger areas, the movement joints will be visible.
We cannot specify the exact location nor frequency of movement joints as there are many site related conditions that must be addressed; It is especially important to note for interior installations, movement joints are placed more frequently when moisture or direct sunlight is expected. For exterior installations, the range of temperature from summer highs to winter lows must be considered
The intent of the guideline regarding sun exposure is to recognize that areas that get warm (or wet) may experience greater amounts of differential expansion. If the areas exposed to sunlight are warmer than surrounding areas, movement joints should be used more frequently. If the tile surface is not appreciably affected, no accommodation is needed in the joint spacing.
Only the area subjected to increased temperature needs to have movement joints more closely placed, not the entire floor if elsewhere the floor is an even temperature.
Many things can subject the tile layer to shear forces in addition to temperature and moisture. The following is a partial list:
Continued curing of the concrete substrate can put the tile in compression
Deflection and vibration of the substrate - particularly with suspended slabs
Seismic activity
Changes in the plane of the substrate
Location of weight-bearing columns
Type of tile or glass
Movement joints are filled with material that allows for contraction and expansion. For floor applications, urethane, neoprene, or polysulfide are most often used in traffic areas and silicone sometimes where traffic is not a concern. Traffic areas require a sealant with a shore hardness of 35 or greater.
