Hopcalite catalyst is mainly composed of copper oxide (CuO) and manganese dioxide (MnO2), used to convert carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide. It has very good catalytic effect on carbon monoxide (CO) in dry environment (normal temperature and pressure). But its disadvantage is that it is quite sensitive to the moisture, when the humidity exceeds 45%, the catalyst will quickly become poisoned and invalid, so it is suitable to use under the dry environment. So if the application environment is high moisture, and need use desiccant first to absorb and filter water vapor. For low concentration CO gas, the catalytic effect of the catalyst is not so good than the precious metal catalyst.
Hopcalite catalyst has the characteristics of low cost and high catalytic performance, it is widely applied in fire escape equipment, diving devices , air-purifying respirator, environmental protecting ,mine rescue, exhaust treatment other fields.
Although Hopcalite catalyst is mainly used to convert carbon monoxide (CO) into carbon dioxide (CO2). But it is also used to remove ethylene oxide and other VOCs as well as ozone (O3) from the gas streams.
