Aluminum fluoride Properties:
Aluminum fluoride is an inorganic substance, AlF₃. It is colorless or white crystalline. Insoluble in water, insoluble in acids and bases. It is very stable and can be hydrolyzed when heated. Mainly used in aluminum smelting. It can be prepared by the action of aluminum trichloride and hydrofluoric acid and ammonia.
Mainly used in aluminum smelting production to reduce melting point and improve the conductivity of electrolytes. Used in the production of alcohol as an inhibitor of by-fermentation. It is also used as flux and component of glaze for ceramic glaze and enamel glaze. It can also be used as a flux for smelting non-ferrous metals.
