Ferrosilicon Properties:

Ferrosilicon is a kind of ferroalloy which is composed of iron and silicon. Using silica, steel, coke as raw material, the silicon at high temperature from 1500 to 1800 degrees is fused in iron liquid to form ferrosilicon alloy. Ferrosilicon is an important alloy variety in the smelting industry. Due to the silicon and oxygen are easily compound into SiO2, so ferrosilicon is also used as deoxidizer in steel-making. At the same time, ferrosilicon can be used as an alloying element additive, widely used in low alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat resistant steel and electrical silicon steel. Ferrosilicon is widely used in the steel making,iron casting,low-carbon ferroalloy producing:

1. In the steel making field,Ferrosilicon is used as deoxidizer and alloying agent to precipite and diffuse deoxidation.Adding a certain amount of ferrosilicon to the steel can obviously improve the strength ,hardness ,elasticity and permeability of steel.

2. In the iron casting,it is used as ball mile agent and alloying agent especially in the nodular iron casting. Adding ferrosilicon for casting iron  can prevent the formation of carbide and promote the precipitation of graphite and the nodulizing then the mechanical capacity can be the same as that of steel.

3. Ferrosilicon of high-silicon content can be used for the production of the low-carbon reductant in ferro alloy industry.

4. Ferrosilicon powder can be used as suspended phase in the mineral processing industry and coating for welding electrodes in the electrode manufactruing.
