Q: There appear to be some negative reviews on some websites about mobile signal booster. I am in very rural area with a poor signal and want to know this is going to work?

A: This is a very good question. Generally the negative reviews are driven by not setting up the equipment properly or not having enough signal outside the house to pull in to have good results inside the house.

Two important things during installation: 

1). You must have some signal outside the home. The device isn't magic and doesn't create signal where there isn't any. The resulting signal you will get inside your house is directly related to the signal picked up by the antenna outside your house. The better the signal you get outside the house the further it will carry inside your house.

2). You really do have to get the recommended antenna separation. Your internal antenna can't be too close to the external antenna to avoid self oscillation. Basically, how well this booster works depends on how good your signal is on your external antenna and your ability to get the separation needed between the external and internal antennas. Try to put the outdoor directional antenna higher. The length and quality of cable affects signal quality too.

A: No, unfortunately the signal booster cannot be programmed. Any device with channel access in range can benefit. You can turn it off when you do not need the signal booster though.

Q: How close to the indoor antenna do you have to be to get boosted signal? 

A: Generally speaking, one indoor ceiling antenna can cover about 2500 square feet. Indoor walls can weaken the signals between different rooms. You can use more than one indoor antenna for bigger indoor coverage if needed. Make sure the indoor antenna is mounted on the ceiling in the middle of the room. The outdoor antenna is located outside of your house and catches good signal. How strong signal the outdoor antenna catch also affect on the coverage of the indoor antenna. The outdoor antenna should be well isolated from the indoor antennas to avoid feedback.
