Sodium polyacrylate, chemical formula is (C3H3NaO2) N, is a new functional polymer material and important chemical products, solid products for white or light yellow block or powder, liquid products for colorless or light yellow viscous liquid.By acrylic acid and its ester as raw materials, by aqueous solution polymerization.Tasteless, soluble in sodium hydroxide aqueous solution, precipitation in calcium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide and other aqueous solutions.It is often used as water treatment agent, brine refining and latex thickening, but also can be used as food stickiness, emulsification.

Sodium polyacrylate is a polymer that soaks up 300 times its own weight in water. Its nickname is the Super Slurper. It is used in baby diapers to keep baby bottoms dry. It is also a more convenient way to provide water to animals during transporation. The water soaked polymer crystals won't spill, and animals can eat them to get water. Another common use is a soil substitute, which is what we will make in this experiment.
