Plane cutting (2D)
Flat or 2D cutting is the most common application in laser cutting. The standard machine is equipped with 3 axes: two positioning axes-for the cutting contour required for movement, and a Z axis-for balancing the different distances between the workpiece and the cutting head. In addition to traditional CO2 lasers, solid-state lasers (fiber lasers and disc lasers) that use fiber optic transmission are currently the main sources of light. The 2D system can process sheet metal made of steel, stainless steel, aluminum or non-ferrous metals with various thicknesses, with excellent dynamics and high cutting speed. It is especially cost-effective and flexible for small and medium batch production.
