Property
Boric acid is actually a hydrate of boron oxide (B2O33H2O), which is a white powdery crystal or a three-slanted scaly flaky luster crystal. It has a slippery feel and no odor when it comes into contact with the skin. Soluble in water, alcohol, glycerin, ethers and essential oils, odorless, slightly sweet and bitter after sweet. The exposure is unchanged in the air and can be volatilized with water vapor. When heated to 100-105 ° C, one molecule of water is lost to form metaboric acid; when heated at 104-160 ° C for a long time, it is converted to pyroboric acid, and at a higher temperature, an anhydrate is formed. The boric acid has a pH of 5.1.1 g in a 0.1 mol/L aqueous solution and can be dissolved in 18 ml of cold water, 4 ml of boiling water, 18 ml of cold ethanol, 6 ml of boiling ethanol, and 4 ml of glycerin. Solubility in water increases with the addition of hydrochloric acid, citric acid and tartaric acid. Relative density: 1.4347, melting point 184 ° C (decomposition), boiling point 300 ° C.
Usages
1. Preparation of various borate, insecticides for black beetles in cockroaches and carpets.
2. It is used as a hemostatic agent and preservative in medicine, and is used as a pH adjuster, a disinfectant, an antibacterial preservative, and the like.
3, used to prepare borate, boric acid ester, optical glass, paint, pigment, boric acid soap, leather finishing agent, printing and dyeing auxiliaries and pharmaceutical disinfectants.
4, used in capacitor manufacturing and electronic components industry, high-purity analytical reagents, medicinal disinfection and anti-corrosion and preparation of exposed photosensitive materials processing pharmaceutical industry.
5, used in glass, enamel, ceramics, medicine, metallurgy, leather, dyes, pesticides, fertilizers, textiles and other industries.
