What is API and SP standard?
The American Petroleum Institute (API) is the largest U.S. trade association for the oil and natural gas industry.
On May 1st 2020, they introduce three new gasoline engine oil standards, API SP, ILSAC GF-6A and GF-6B.
The new "SP standard" is the highest quality engine oil that meets all the performance requirements
for engine oil such as prevention of
LSPI(Low Speed Pre-Ignition)※ and strong protection of timing chains.
※ In recent years, it has become a car with excellent fuel efficiency and maximum output,
even though it is a small engine.
Smaller engines may experience abnormal combustion (LSPI) in the combustion chamber before ignition,
causing significant damage to the engine.
In addition, if the timing chain wears, LSPI will cause deterioration of engine performance
and poor fuel efficiency.
