1. Anticoagulation and Fibrinolysis
Nattokinase in natto has direct fibrinolytic properties, can degrade fibrin and anticoagulant. The peptide from nattokinase seems to increase the level of plasminogen activator, and plasminogen activator also has fibrinolytic effect indirectly. Nattokinase is 4 times that of plasmin.
2. Hypertension
Studies have shown that daily supplementation (about 8 weeks) of nattokinase can reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure in patients with mild hypertension. The by-products of enzymatic digestion appear to be biologically active dipeptides and tripeptides, which have the potential to inhibit angiotensin-converting enzyme or may lower blood pressure in other ways
3. Prevent deep vein thrombosis
Nattokinase can be used to prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) during long-distance flights (7-8 hours).
